I’m having a lot of fun here at camp Green Lake. There is tons of flowers here and they are very pretty. I’m hoping to bring some home for you when I come back. We just finished our swimming course and I learned quite a few new swimming moves. The Back stroke, a front stroke, and many many more. The next course we have is archery. I believe that archery will be a blast! I’ve never done archery so I’m hoping I’m a natural and that I am very good at it. The day after tomorrow we will each get however many animals we want to take care of for the rest of camp as part of our weird sympathy class. I think it’s kni of stupid but I like the animals. I chose 12 animals. 7 pigs, 3 horses and 2 goats. I feel like the goats will be easiest to take care of because from what I’ve heard you don’t have to feed them. They just eat anything that they see.
Last night I made cookies and we all watched E.T. My friend Zero got super scared and he jumped up and all of his cookies rooled under the sofa. It wasn’t that scary so I don’t know why he got so scared. We thought it was very cool that E.T’s finger could glow.
Some of my new friends are X-Ray, Magnet, Squid and Armpit just to name a few.
For breakfast there is everything you could dream of. Ice cream, eggs, toast, cereal, crepes, mashed potatoes (my favourite), pancakes, waffles, pop-tarts and much much more. For drinks there is every type of pop, freshly squeezed juices and much more. The swimming pool is the same size as the ones that are used in the olympics. They are HUGE. I don’t know why they have the giant pool because we have the gigantic lake a few meters away from our cabins. We go into either the pool or lake at night and play tag or Marco - Polo. We also sit by the campfire to warm up, dry off and make s’mores. Mr. Pendanski and Mr. Sir (our camp counslers) sing us weird songs around the campfire and they are very annoying. One the people that I didn’t recognize told us a story about how the kids at his old juvenile detention facility had to dig holes every day 5 feet wide and 5 feet deep, in every direction. They had to do all of this work in the blazing hot summer sun. I feel very bad for them.
The bunk beds that we have are very squeaky but I got the one from the kid who was here before me. It doesn’t squeak and it doesn’t even make a noise if you drag it across the floor. The hamoks that we lay on during the day are enormous. They are very comfortable and they keep the scorching desert heat off of you whle you are relaxing outside.
We celebrated Squids birthday today. We made a 5 layer cake and covered it in delicious chocolate frosting. There was almost a whole bottle of sprinkles on the cake. They were….. You guessed it: chocolate. The cake was really good and when Squid blew out his 14 candles 4 of them didn’t go out. He got really embarrased for some reason and then he quickly blew out the rest of the candles. We each gave him some very unique presents and he loved them. When we decorated the cake it was still a bit warm so the frosting melted a bit. It was still scrumptious.
On tuesdays and thursdays we have to have school. Mr. Pendanski said that we had to have it so that we were smart and our brains didn’t turn to mush. We have math, social studies, science, art, art, music and we’re even learning French and German. They told us that apparently Mark Twain once said that “ An man ought to learn English in 30 minutes, French in 30 days and German in 30 years.” I think he is over exaggerating a little bit because I am having quite an easy time learning German. I know 1 word in German. It’s “Danke” which means thank you. I know a lot in french. It’s almost like I’m fluent. “Bonjour, comment ça va?” that means “Hello, how are you?” Maybe when I finally return home I will be able to teach you and dad German and French.
How is dad’s shoe project going? Has he achieved something besides making the apartment smell like burning rubber? When I come home I kind of look forward to the smell. It really makes me feel at home.
A couple of nights ago they made us watch Mary Poppins for some reason. It wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t very good. Now everybody is running around yelling “Supercalifragilisticexpialodocious” and it gets very annoying.
I joined this weird book club a while back and it isn’t that bad. Right now we are reading a series called “Magnus Chase” the book we are reading is “Magnus Chase and the Gods Of Asgard.” and it is probably the best book I have ever read. Some of the other books we have read were Wonder, Harry Potter and the Goblit of Fire and a few others. Magnus Chase is a very interesting book. Mr. Sir said that if I finish it in the next two days we get a giant waterslide that travels all the wasy across the huge lake and the waterslide will be all twisty. It’s going to be super fun. I think it’s going to be 50 feet long. Squid gets to go down the slide first but the slide won’t be very wet so he will get stuck and it will be very wet for when I go because I am going 2nd. I feel bad for him because he won’t get that experiance he was hoping for. I will get it instead. It is really cool watching the contruction workers build the slide because the only way to get to and from the slide is to swim. It is very funny watching them have to jumpin the water to get back to shore.
Just now Armpit is telling me that Squid and X-ray are having a giant fist fight. Squid, Armpit, X- Ray and Zero are nicknames by the way. My nickname is Caveman but I don’t know why but I don’t mind it. I actually quite like my nickname. I think it may be because in the rec room I tripped over someones foot because I wasn’t paying attention. I almost had to go into the ice cold lake (It’s night time right now and it goes below 0o F at night.
Tomorrow night at 12:48 Squid turns 14 years old. At his party we are going to be playing tons of games and having lots of fun along with a secret surprise party.
OH MY GOSH!! The wardens dog just started having the puppies. I don’t really want to go in the room because I might disrupt Snowball. (The dog). She is letting us name them and we will name them Dave and Jeffery and the warden gets to name the rest.
We were told a very interesting story about an old outlaw named Kissin’ Kate Barlow. They say that there is an old juvenile correctional facility down by an old dried up lake where they make the children dig holes that are 5 feet wide and deep in every direction searching for Kissin’ Kate’s treasure. I feel really bad for them. I am very lucky I don’t have to be there digging holes every day.
Did I mention that we are learning how to rock climb on the mountains over on th eother side of the lake. They also taught us how to kayak and now I can do a full 360 in the water and go upside down. That’s how we get across the lake. Kayaking builds lots of muscle and my hands always got blisters at the start but know they don’t.
Every day we do crafts and today we made pencil pouches that were made completely out of zipper. They look like monsters and have googly eyes at the top.
There is a strange book at the library that is called Holes but no one will read it, touch it or even go near it. I don’t know why but i guess it’s creepy or something like that. It isn’t covered in boogers or cobwebs so it isn’t disgusting.
If we do chores we get a piece of candy afterwards and I normally choose the crispy crunches. They are my favourite. (Of course you already knew that). We watched an old historic movie about Tracy Pitt-Turnbull and about how she dicovered america. I hope that you aren’t doing to bad without me at home and that dad figured out a way to get rid of that smell.

I am so so sorry. Almost everything in that last letter was a lie. My friends nicknames are actually Squid, Zero, Zig-Zag, Armpit and X-Ray although I don’t recall mentioning Zig-Zag in my last letter. Mr Pendanski and Mr Sir are real people and they are couselers at the camp. The story about digging holes is true though. I have to do it every day but I don’t know why you would believe me about any of this because now I don’t know why anyone would believe what I say after that HUGE lie. The warden is a girl that is searching for Kate Barlows treasure and loot. There is yellow spotted lizards that will kill you if you get bit. There is also rattle snakes. I came in to a very close encounter with a rattle snake today and I was quite frightened. I really hope you don’t worry about me and that you can forgive me.
